Terms of Service

VERSION 1.1 · EFFECTIVE 15 SEPTEMBER 2026

The agreement between you and the operator of inaff. It sets out what inaff is, who may use it, what you may and may not do here, what we charge, and how disputes are handled. It is written to be read. There is no second, shorter document that contradicts it.

DRAFT — NOT THE FINAL PUBLISHED VERSION

The operating entity, the governing jurisdiction and the designated copyright agent are not filled in yet, so every place this document names one reads as unfinished. Fill in legal/entity.json and re-run node legal/sync.mjs before launch.

1Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service (the Terms) form a binding agreement between you and Inaff App (Sole Proprietorship, registered at Your Real Address or Registered Agent Address), referred to here as inaff, we, us or our. They govern your use of the inaff mobile application, the website at inaff.app, and every service we provide through either of them (together, the Service).

By creating an account, by tapping Accept on the agreement screen shown when the application first opens, or by otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read these Terms and that you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The application will close rather than continue, and nothing will be created for you.

Three further documents are incorporated into these Terms by reference and form part of this agreement: the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy, and the Copyright and DMCA Policy. Where a conflict exists between these Terms and one of those documents, the more specific document governs the subject it covers.

2What inaff is, and what it is not

inaff is a platform for making platonic friends. It matches two adults who live near one another, gives them a shared activity to do, and steps back after twenty of them. That is the entire product.

inaff is NOT a dating application. It is not a hookup application, a matchmaking service, an escort or companionship service, or a place to look for a romantic or sexual partner. It is built specifically and only for making friends, and the product is shaped around that: there is no free-text biography, there is no swiping, there is no like, there is no attractiveness signal anywhere in the ranking, and the matching engine does not model or optimise for romantic compatibility of any kind.

Using the Service to pursue romantic or sexual contact is a breach of the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy and will end your account. This is not a tone preference or a community norm we hope you will observe. It is a term of this agreement.

We do not promise that you will make a friend. Nobody honestly can. We do not promise a particular number of matches, a particular quality of match, or that any match will reply to you. Where your area does not contain enough people for us to match you well, we say so rather than pairing you badly.

3Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. There is no lower tier for minors, no supervised mode, and no manual exception for anyone.

You must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement and must not be barred from using the Service under the law of the country you are in. You must not be a person whose account or device we have previously banned, and you must not create an account on behalf of such a person.

Age assurance is applied automatically. Where an automated check of a profile photograph indicates that the account holder is a minor, the device is banned for eighteen years and an appeal is opened at the moment of the ban. Eighteen years rather than permanently, because a person who tried to sign up here as a child is an adult in eighteen years and nothing that happened that day should follow them into it. The appeal codes are generated on the device before any network request is made, so it is not possible to be banned and simultaneously unable to contest it.

Identity and age verification through our verification partner is optional. An unverified account is a smaller product, and the whole list of what it cannot do is shown on the screen where the choice is made: no messages at all, no indoor or outdoor side-quests, matching restricted to other unverified accounts, and no ability to purchase a subscription. Voice calls and every safety feature work on an unverified account.

4Your account

One account per person. An account is personal to you, is not transferable, and may not be sold, rented, shared or advertised. You are responsible for everything done through your account and for keeping your credentials secure.

You must give accurate information when you register and keep it accurate. Impersonating another person, using another person's photographs, or misstating your age are each grounds for immediate and permanent termination.

You may delete your account at any time from inside the application. Deletion removes your profile, your matches, your answers and your local data. It is not a deactivation and there is no shadow profile left behind. The records we are required to keep for legal, safety or accounting reasons are listed in the Privacy Policy.

5Matching, quests and graduation

Matching uses your answers to the scenario questions, your stated interests, your distance from other members, your stated preference about who you want to be matched with, and an age band. Every one of these filters is applied in both directions: if you fall outside another member's band or preference, they do not appear to you either.

The age band exists so that adults of very different ages are not introduced to one another as strangers who will then meet in person. It is not a judgement about anybody and it is not adjustable. If it excludes someone you would have liked to meet, that is the cost of a rule that also excludes the case it was written for.

Quests are suggested activities. Some are written for your pair automatically, some come from the shared library, and some are provided by venues that have paid to appear. A quest is a suggestion and never an instruction. You decide whether to accept it, whether to attend, and when to leave.

After twenty completed quests with the same person the Service steps back from that pairing on purpose. That is the intended end of the product, not a limit we expect you to pay to remove.

6Meeting people in person

This is the most important section in this document.

inaff introduces people. We apply an age check, we act on reports, and we build safety tools into the product. We do not run criminal background checks, we do not vet character, we do not verify anything a person tells you in conversation, and we cannot supervise a meeting that happens in the physical world.

You are responsible for your own safety and for your own conduct when you meet another member. Meet in a public place. Tell somebody you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back. Arrange your own transport in both directions. Keep your personal and financial information to yourself. Leave the moment you want to leave — you never owe anybody an explanation for leaving.

The emergency exit, the quiet exit, the app lock, the quick exit button, the privacy screen, discreet notifications, block and report, and hide-from-contacts are free on every tier, permanently, and will never be placed behind a payment. Charging for safety would be charging for who gets to be safe.

inaff does not disguise itself. It will not open as a calculator or as any other app, and there is no secret code that unlocks it. We removed that: the App Store does not permit an app to present itself as something it is not, and running one version of inaff that can hide and another that cannot would mean the safety page is wrong for half the people reading it. What we have instead is the app lock, which keeps what is inside inaff private. It does not hide that inaff is installed, and we would rather say so here than let you rely on cover you do not have.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you accept the risks of meeting other members in person, and you agree that we are not responsible for the conduct of any member, online or offline.

7Acceptable use

The Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy sets out in full what is not allowed here. In summary, and without limiting that document: no romantic or sexual pursuit of any kind; no harassment, threats, hate speech or intimidation; no requests for money, gifts, investments or cryptocurrency; no commercial use of a personal account; no recruitment for any cause, company, faith or scheme; no sexual content; no content involving minors; no illegal activity; no impersonation; and no scraping, automation, reverse engineering, or circumvention of any limit, filter or ban.

Harassment and sexual advances are not subject to a strike system. One is enough.

You may not use the Service to build a dataset, to train a model, or to identify or locate members off the platform.

8Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload: your photographs, your written answers, your video diaries and your posts. We do not claim any of it as ours.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit and display that content for the sole purpose of operating, securing and improving the Service. The licence lasts only as long as the content is on the Service, ends when you delete the content or your account, and does not permit us to sell your content, license it onward for advertising, or publish it outside the Service.

You confirm that you own or are licensed to use everything you upload, and that the photographs on your profile are of you.

Messages between members are encrypted in the application and cannot be read by us on the server. Screening of message content, where it happens, happens on your own device. One consequence of that design is stated plainly here: we cannot produce the contents of a private conversation — not for you, not for the other person, and not for anybody else.

9Subscriptions and payments

Premium is $9.99 for one month or $24.99 for three months. There is no annual plan, because graduation is twenty quests and selling a year would be selling a year of needing us.

Payments are processed by our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record and whose own terms apply to the transaction. Where the application was installed from Google Play, payment is handled by Google Play Billing as that platform requires, and Google's refund rules apply to those purchases.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel. You may cancel at any time: the period you have already paid for runs to its end and nothing renews after it. We do not pro-rate partial periods and we do not make you speak to anybody in order to leave.

Premium cannot be purchased on an unverified account. Not because verification is a paid feature — it is free and optional — but because everything premium accelerates runs through walls an unverified account cannot pass, and selling somebody speed through a door they cannot open is taking money for nothing.

Your statutory cancellation and refund rights, including any right of withdrawal under the consumer law of your country, are unaffected by anything in this section.

10inaff for business

Venues buy credits. A credit costs $10 and is consumed when one age-verified person walks into the venue and scans the code on the counter, and at no earlier point in the funnel — not the send, not the accept, not the tap. The minimum first purchase is $100.

Credits do not expire, are not refundable once consumed, and carry no cash value. There is no auction, no bidding, no weekly rate and no reach estimate. Volume is rewarded with bonus credits rather than with a lower price per arrival.

A venue account is a business account. Whoever accepts these Terms on behalf of a venue confirms that they are authorised to bind that business. Venues additionally agree not to make attendance at a quest conditional on a purchase, not to collect personal information from arriving members beyond what the scan itself provides, and to keep premises that are lawful and safe for members to enter.

We may decline, suspend or refund a venue at our discretion, including where an area does not have enough members for arrivals to be plausible. We would rather return the money than take it for a number we cannot deliver.

11Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account, and may ban a device, where we reasonably believe there has been a breach of these Terms or the Community Guidelines, where the law requires it, or where continuing to serve the account would put another member at risk.

Where the reason permits it, we tell you what the reason was. We do not always give the full detail of how a decision was reached, because an account that is told exactly which signal caught it is an account that knows exactly what to change.

Every ban may be appealed. The appeal route is in the application and on the website, and it does not require you to hold an account or to tell us who you are.

You may stop using the Service at any time. The sections that by their nature should survive termination do survive it, including sections 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

12Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that any defect will be corrected, or that any match, quest, venue or other member will meet your expectations.

We are not a party to any arrangement you make with another member, and we are not responsible for what any member says or does, online or offline.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

13Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or anticipated savings, arising out of or connected with your use of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law our total aggregate liability arising out of or connected with the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. Where that is so, the limitations above apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

14Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us and hold us harmless against claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs brought by a third party and arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your content, or your conduct towards another member. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.

15Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of the courts of New Castle County, Delaware have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own country or to rely on mandatory provisions of your local law, nothing in this section removes that right.

Before starting formal proceedings, please open a ticket and describe the dispute. Most things that reach a lawyer could have been settled at that stage, and we would rather settle it there.

16Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. Where a change is material we will tell you inside the application before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new version, rather than silently updating a page you were never going to visit. The version number and effective date at the top of this document always identify the version you accepted.

If you do not accept a new version you may stop using the Service and delete your account. Continuing to use the Service after a new version takes effect means you accept it.

17Contact

There is no support email address, for us or for you. The whole door is the ticket system at inaff.app/support, which is reachable without an account and issues credentials you can use to come back to the same case.

A legal question sent by email arrives with no case file and no way for either side to prove later what was asked or when. Open a ticket, mark it as a legal matter, and it goes straight to a person — the automated first line is not permitted to touch legal, press, safety or data-access requests.

Notices to the operator: Inaff App, Your Real Address or Registered Agent Address.
